Mother's Day
This Mother's Day was very special. I couldn't have asked for a better gift. Tristan arrived just in time. Grandma Patty came to visit and we had our first outing. Chris took us to breakfast and then we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. I enjoyed spending the day with my boys. I am so proud to be their Mom.

Coming home from the hospital
Tristan Ryder Nelson was born May 4, 2008 at 2:56PM. He weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 19 inches long.
We arrived at the hospital on Sunday morning to have my labor induced. Tristan was only a day late but we were more than ready to meet him. I was given pitocin around 9:00AM and at the time I was only about an inch and a half dilated. My contractions began shortly after but I didn't really feel any pain at all, just a little tightening. I was surprised to hear that my contractions were only 2-3 minutes apart and lasting 80 seconds long. My doctor arrived around 11:30AM to break my water. My contractions rapidly increased in intensity and were only about a minute apart at times doubling up. My doctor said I could have an epidural and by now I was ready. The anesthesiologist was called but was running late so it felt like forever before he finally arrived. Once he gave me the epidural, the nurse checked me and I was now dilated to 5 or 6. She called my doctor to let her know this labor wasn't going to be long. Having the epidural was wonderful. This labor was so different from my first. I was able to relax and enjoy the experience. Awhile later the nurse came back in because the babies heart rate was dropping during contractions so she thought something was happening. She checked me again and I was fully dilated and ready to deliver. We started pushing and Tristan was born 40 minutes later.
It was such an awesome experience and we are truly blessed to have a healthy baby boy. Although we have been exhausted and sleep deprived, everyone is doing great.
